Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would put her in America's eyes, into the child prodigy category. As a person with Irish heritage, and surrounded as her by talented parents and family members was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen made her entrance into the safe haven of her parents on the 17th of August 1920 located in Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita Lu. FitzSimons was a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland, and also ran a Dublin business. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen excelled at sports and was a lover of rough play. Her natural ability to perform was a perfect complement to her passion for sports. In the end, she received almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances in her home country. By age 14 she was invited to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater as well as operatic vocals.
